The base compound of the Quake Crackle Creator system serves to create the cracked surface of dried-out ground on a diorama. It is neither a paint nor a glue.
Responsibility details are not available.
A texture compound from the line intended to create cracked, dried-out ground. The compound is the base component of the whole system, that is, the layer onto which the top cracked texture from the same line is applied. It is used on the surface of a diorama, on a base under a model and on the bed of a dried-out watercourse. It is neither a paint nor a glue but a compound that, once dry, forms a firm surface ready for painting and weathering.
Degrease the surface and apply the compound with a brush or a spatula in an even layer. With crackle systems in general it holds that the thickness of the layer influences the size and density of the cracks, so it pays to try the procedure on a scrap piece of the surface first. Let it dry freely at room temperature, as accelerated drying with a hairdryer changes the look of the cracks. The manufacturer states the exact procedure for application and the order of the layers on the packaging, so keep to it. The finished surface goes well with acrylic paint, washes and pigments, with which the shade of the ground can be fine-tuned to suit the scene. Wash the tools while the compound is still wet.
For builders of dioramas and vignettes who want a cracked surface without the slow layering of filler, and for modelers who build scenes set in dry regions. Working with the compound calls for no special tools; a brush or a spatula is enough.
A material for building a scene. Paints, pigments and the textures that follow are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
