This is a resin detailing accessory from Quickboost, not a model of a helicopter. The set brings a faithfully rendered L-166 Lipa infrared jammer, which on the real machine is fitted as a defensive system against IR-guided missiles. The accessory replaces or supplements a simpler rendering in plastic. It is meant for models of the Mil Mi-8MT/Mi-17 transport helicopter in 1:48 scale.
The Mil Mi-8 and its newer variant the Mi-17, NATO reporting name Hip, are widespread Soviet twin-engine transport helicopters with broad military and civilian use. The L-166 Lipa system is an active infrared jammer mounted on the fuselage, whose characteristic shape is one of the recognizable features of the armed versions.
Carefully separate the part from the casting block and clean up the surfaces. Wash and degrease the resin before gluing. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue. Before fitting it, check the placement dry, so that the part follows the line of the fuselage.
This is an accessory meant for further work. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
