The Sea Harrier was a carrier aircraft of the Royal Navy with the ability to take off vertically or in a short run. The FA.2 version came about as a deep upgrade of the earlier FRS.1 form: it received a new radar in a reworked, markedly bulkier nose, revised avionics and expanded armament options. Power came from a single Rolls-Royce Pegasus turbofan with vectoring nozzles, which make it possible to change the direction of the thrust and with it the way the aircraft takes off and lands. The most noticeable difference from the FRS.1 version is precisely the shape of the nose, by which the two versions are easily told apart on a model.
Decide on the nozzles of the engine and their angle before you glue them, as they determine whether you build the model as standing on a deck or as hovering. Blank off the air intakes with their rings of auxiliary doors and smooth them, so that nothing can be seen inside. Finish the cockpit before closing the fuselage and mask the canopy. The naval gray finish looks best on a smooth, uniform base, so sand the areas down before painting and use a primer. Apply gloss varnish under the decals and choose a matte or satin final coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
