Electrical connectors and wiring 1:12, a Falcon Scale Models accessory

A universal detail set for modelers who want to add the electrical installation to a motorcycle model in 1:12 scale, that is the runs of the cables and their terminations in connectors. It is not a kit or a part of a particular machine: the set is of the kind that covers hoses, wiring and connectors and is used wherever a modeler decides to enrich a build with wiring of his own.

What it is good for

A real motorcycle is threaded with conductors to the ignition, the sensors, the fuel system and the instruments. A production kit usually does not have this at all, or only suggested in relief. Added wiring tends to be the first thing a viewer notices on a model: it gives the engine depth and looks realistic even in a close-up photograph. The connectors then solve the hardest part of the job, the transition of a cable into a part, which on hand-made wiring usually looks unfinished.

Fitting and painting tips

First lay the routes of the wiring out on a copy of the instructions or on a photograph of the real subject, and only then drill. Make the holes with a micro drill in a hand holder rather than with a power drill, as in 1:12 scale a really small diameter is enough. Lead the cable in a gentle curve, as sharp bends look unnatural. Bond spot by spot with a gel consistency super glue, which does not run where it should not. Finish the wiring only after the surrounding parts have been painted, otherwise you will ruin the work while masking.
