An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Boeing B-47 Stratojet strategic jet bomber in 1:144 scale from the manufacturer Academy. The package contains clear plastic for the cockpit glazing and decals for marking options. Given the great span of the slender swept wing, even this small scale makes for a decently large model, which is worth building in subassemblies.
The Boeing B-47 Stratojet was an American strategic bomber from the start of the jet era, powered by six jet engines in pods under a strongly swept, slender and flexible wing. Its bicycle landing gear and its rocket-assisted take-off boosters were among its peculiarities. In the 1950s the B-47 formed the backbone of American strategic aviation and foreshadowed the shape of later large jet aircraft.
Use liquid cement for plastic and finish and mask the cockpit before the fuselage is closed. With the long slender fuselage and wing, expect to fill and sand the joints. Apply a primer before varnishing and lay the colors down with an airbrush; the classic natural metal scheme comes out best with metalizer paints on a smooth, polished ground. Fit the engine pods and their pylons carefully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
