Landing flaps for the Boeing KC-135R in 1:144 scale, cut for the Academy kit. The model gains a faithful landing configuration.
Responsibility details are not available.
A conversion set with which the Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker can be built with the flaps extended into the landing position. The set is cut for the Academy kit; the manufacturer also makes an identically named version for another kit, so when ordering, watch which kit you are building. You will not find the aircraft in the package.
The R form was created by rebuilding older machines, which were given fuel-efficient high-bypass turbofan engines. Thanks to them the aircraft could carry more fuel to pass on, became markedly quieter and extended its life by decades. From outside you recognize the version by the massive nacelles with short cowlings and by the reworked equipment on the wing. Machines to this standard still form the basis of the refueling units today and accompany practically every long-range operation.
Cut the original trailing edge away with a sharp knife and level the surface. Before you reach for the glue, check dry how the parts seat and sand out any play. Make the joint with cyanoacrylate glue and run a thin layer of putty through the resulting seam. Watch that the angle of extension is the same on both sides; asymmetry is immediately visible on a finished model. Finally sand, apply primer and carry on with the usual painting.
Paints, putty and the kit are not enclosed.
