Responsibility details are not available.
A model of the German Hs 123 ground-attack biplane in 1:144 scale. It is a short-run kit made of resin parts produced by 3D printing. The assembly is simpler than on an injection-molded kit, but it calls for a different way of gluing and a different preparation of the surface before painting.
The Hs 123 came about in the mid-1930s as a dive bomber with a BMW 132 radial engine. It was a single-seat all-metal biplane with fixed landing gear in wheel spats and an unusually sturdy structure. Although the Ju 87 was meant to replace it soon, it proved itself in close support of ground troops so well that it stayed in service considerably longer than expected, from the fighting in Spain through the Polish campaign and the Balkans all the way to the Eastern Front. Crews valued the toughness of the airframe, its ability to operate from improvised strips and its accuracy in attacks from low level.
On a biplane it is the geometry that decides: line the upper and lower wing up dry first and only then fix the joint. Wash the resin parts in soapy water, cut the casting remnants away with a saw and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. The struts and the small braces are brittle in this scale, so handle them with tweezers. Lay the paint on in thin coats so that the surface texture is not lost, and bring out the panel lines with fine toning rather than a heavy wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
