An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Avro Vulcan B.2 strategic bomber in 1:144 scale from the Great Wall Hobby brand. The model captures the characteristic large delta wing and the smooth fuselage with four buried engines. The kit allows the aircraft to be built with the landing gear retracted or extended, it holds a display stand and decals for several machines, and Shrike missiles and a jamming pod with pylons are included as well.
The Avro Vulcan was a British four-engine strategic bomber with a striking delta wing, one of the three so-called V-bombers that formed the British nuclear deterrent during the Cold War. The B.2 version had a larger, revised wing, more powerful engines and more modern equipment. Besides carrying nuclear and conventional bombs the Vulcan served in other roles as well; the best known is its long-range bombing raid during the Falklands War in 1982.
Watch the alignment of the large delta wing while gluing and fill and sand the joints carefully - smooth surfaces reveal every unevenness. Decide in advance between the version on the stand, with the landing gear retracted, and the one standing on its gear. Mask the canopy glazing. Apply a primer and spray with an airbrush; both the anti-flash white and the later dark green camouflage look striking. A fine panel wash brings out the structure of the large surfaces.
