Linden strips 2x2x1000 mm in packs of ten are a small square profile for railings, spars, gratings and countless details of wooden ship models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package contains ten strips of square section 2x2 mm and one meter long. This is the smallest structural profile commonly used on a ship model: from a 2x2 mm strip come stanchions, crosspieces, braces and all the small things the material in a kit box never stretches to. Linden is a light, even and softer wood that cuts and sands willingly and takes stain well if you want a different tone.
With a small profile it is the sharp tool that decides. A blunt scalpel crushes soft linden rather than cutting it, so change the blade more often than you would think. Cut repeated pieces of the same length against a stop, otherwise a railing loses its rhythm after a few stanchions. The corners of a strip can be taken off with fine paper to get approximate round stock for a spar; make the last passes with abrasive paper wrapped around the strip and turn the part, not the paper. It is bonded with PVA wood glue, and on small joints a drop of cyanoacrylate will serve. Apply the glue sparingly, because soft wood soaks it up and a dried patch shows up under stain as a light spot.
For builders of wooden ship models who make railings, gratings and superstructure detail, and for anyone building to their own plan, because a small square profile is the most universal material in the drawer.
The strips are supplied in their natural state, unworked and with no surface finish. Glue, abrasives and stain are not included.
