An accessory set with the German M16 steel helmet in 1:16 scale in a detailed form. It is not a figure or a kit but an accessory with which you replace the helmet from the original kit or add a separate item of equipment to a scene. Scale 1:16 is among the larger figure scales, so every detail of the surface and of the rim shows on the part.
The M16 helmet was a German steel helmet introduced in 1916. It replaced the older leather helmets and with its shape, a pronounced visor over the brow, drawn-in sides and lugs at the sides, it set the look of helmets for decades to come. It was used after the First World War as well, in the interwar period and in modified forms even later, so it suits figures from several periods. It is precisely the characteristic profile that matters on a model, because that is what identifies the helmet at first sight.
First separate the part from the casting remains and sand the surface level; always try the fit dry before gluing. If the casting is resin, wash it in lukewarm soapy water to clear it of mold release agent remains, and bond it with super glue; protect your breathing when sanding resin. Apply a thin base coat before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth surface. Shade the helmet with a darker wash around the rim and bring out the edges where the finish would really be rubbed with a fine dry brush. A matte varnish at the end unifies the surface.
This is an accessory to a figure, not a figure or a kit in its own right. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
