The late shape of the gun travel lock for the Panther with the Ausf. F hull in 1:16 scale corresponds to the final rendition by Daimler-Benz. A separate component for modifying a large-scale model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The stowage of the barrel on the Panther changed during the war and the last series received a lock of a different shape, taller than on the earlier vehicles. This item offers exactly that late form, linked to the final solution by Daimler-Benz and to the hull of the Ausf. F version. It serves as a replacement for the matching component on a large-scale tank and does not make up a model on its own.
The Ausf. F was to be the closing production version of the Panther. It was to have a narrower turret designated Schmalturm, thicker front armor and simplified manufacture, but it never reached series service. Part-built hulls and individual components nevertheless came into being and a number of them appeared in photographs from the end of the war. It is from here that the interest of modelers in the details that set the late machines apart from ordinary Panthers comes.
The original component of the deck is removed, the area is leveled and the new element is seated dry, so as to be sure that the barrel of the turned turret comes to rest naturally. A thin coat of primer keeps the sharp edges legible. At the point where the barrel and the lock met, bare metal quickly wore through in practice, and that is a rewarding detail for a dry brush.
The tank kit, glue and paints have to be obtained separately.
