A decal set from the brand WEIKERT DECALS in 1:16 scale, tied to the Soviet T-34/85 medium tank and to the markings given in the name as the 6th Guards, Manchuria 1945. The set does not contain a model or paints: it is an accessory with which an already painted vehicle is finished.
The T-34/85 carried an 85 mm gun in a three-man turret and became the most widespread late Soviet variant. For a modeler the surface texture is the interesting part: a roughly cast turret, pronounced welds on the hull and a number of welded-on fittings. At the large 1:16 scale this relief is a full-fledged part of the model, and a decal has to be laid across it so that no air is left anywhere.
When the markings fall across a weld or an edge, water alone is not enough. Lay the decal on a glossy base, draw the excess water off and brush the softener over the film. Within a few minutes it goes soft and pulls the decal into the relief; in this phase do not touch it, because a torn film cannot be repaired. On long welds it pays, once it is dry, to score the decal lightly with the tip of a scalpel right along the axis of the seam and to apply the softener a second time: the cut closes up and the markings will look as if they had been painted straight onto the steel. Prick bubbles; never squeeze them.
