A large plastic kit of the German Kettenkrad Sd.Kfz.2 half-track motorcycle (type HK101) in the generous 1:16 scale from Freedom Model Kits. Thanks to the large scale the model stands out with the amount of detail — it offers a basic rendering of the engine, workable tracks and photo-etched parts. It is a striking piece that catches the eye even outside a display case of ordinary armored vehicles.
The Kettenkrad Sd.Kfz.2 was a unique German half-track tractor built on the front end of a motorcycle combined with a tracked running gear. It was originally created for airborne units and proved itself as a light tractor for light weapons and trailers and as a cross-country means of transport. It was steered with handlebars and the front wheel in combination with the tracked running gear.
A large scale rewards careful work — first assemble and paint the engine and the running gear, and only then finish the bodywork. Use liquid cement on the plastic, treat the surface with a primer and apply the colors with an airbrush. The detail comes out well with color modulation, a wash in the recesses and pigments on the tracks and the fenders.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
