A mask set for the ANM-53 sewage tanker truck in 1:43 scale outlines the cab glazing, the lights and the color transitions between the cab and the body. An aid to painting, not a kit.

Shaped pre-cut painting masks for a model of the ANM-53 municipal sewage tanker truck in 1:43 scale. The set holds no parts of the vehicle and no kit. It is used when spraying, to produce a crisp edge around the cab glazing, at the headlights and at the boundary between shades on the cab, the frame and the tank body.
Municipal vehicles tend to carry colorful paintwork. The cab is often a different shade than the body and a crisp line runs between them, which gives hand work away on a model the moment it goes soft. On top of that comes the usual problem of every truck cab: small windows with narrow frames and headlights set in a recess where masking tape cannot be pressed down. A pre-cut mask follows the shape of the part and holds the frame width around the whole perimeter.
Wash the clear parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry. Press the mask down from the center toward the edges and push it into the corners with a blunt tip. Lay the paint on in thin coats, as a thick coat lifts the edge of the mask and creates a ridge. Take the mask off at a shallow angle backward before the finish has fully cured. With municipal vehicles it pays to let the finish dry thoroughly, because weathering in this category tends to be heavy and goes onto a finished surface.
