A mask set for the MAZ-203 city bus in 1:43 scale outlines the glazing, the lights and the dividing line of a two-tone finish. It is an aid to painting, not a kit.

Shaped pre-cut painting masks for a model of the MAZ-203 low-floor city bus in 1:43 scale. The set holds no parts of the model; it serves painting alone. The masks are stuck onto the clear part and onto the body, sprayed over and removed once dry. What they leave behind is a clean edge between the glass and the frame, which in this scale is otherwise very hard to achieve.
From a modeler's point of view a modern city bus is above all a large glazed area. Besides the side windows and the windshield there are the door panels, the headlights and the tail lights to outline, and all of it so that the frame width stays the same along the whole length. The set shortens this work to sticking the masks on and spraying over them. It suits city liveries well, too, where the body is split into two shades and the transition runs across a curve, because that is exactly where tape applied by hand most often slips.
Degrease the surface before sticking the masks on and let it dry thoroughly. Press the mask down from the center toward the edges and push it into the corners with a toothpick or the blunt tip of tweezers. Spray in thin coats, as a thick coat creeps under the edge or creates a visible ridge. Take the mask off at a shallow angle backward before the paint cures fully. On a two-tone finish lay the lighter shade down first, as it is then easier to cover.
