Responsibility details are not available.
This kit from the Polish maker IBG Models captures the American Diamond T 968 truck in the version with an open cab, designated softcab, supplemented with an M2 heavy machine gun. It is an injection-molded plastic model in 1:72 scale. The maker has the Diamond T range in this scale worked out into several variants, so a whole cooperating column can be built.
The Diamond T 968 was an American four-ton truck with 6x6 drive, produced during the Second World War with an open and a closed cab alike. It carried cargo, towed light guns and served as the basis of further bodies, for instance a dump truck or a recovery vehicle. The vehicles went to the British and Soviet armies as well, so they turn up with practically all the Allies. The open cab with a canvas roof made it easier to work the machine gun carried above it, and for a modeler it is rewarding also because you can see into the vehicle.
In 1:72 scale the cleanliness of the work decides the outcome. Sand the joints of the cab and the bed down and check them after spraying the primer, which shows every unevenness at once. Paint the interior of the open cab before you close it up, because the seats, the bulkhead and the instrument panel cannot be reached afterwards. The machine gun is a small part, so cut it off the sprue only just before gluing and work with tweezers. At the end add a wash into the shadows and dust pigments on the wheels, the wheel arches and the underside of the frame.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
