A replacement Martin-Baker Mk14 ejection seat in 1:48 scale, intended for models of the F/A-18 and T-45 machines. It will replace the simplified part from the kit cockpit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Martin-Baker Mk14 ejection seat is the common type of seat for American carrier machines, among them the F/A-18 combat aircraft and the T-45 trainer. It is a densely articulated assembly: the shell, the headrest, the straps, the locks, the handles and the lines. That is exactly why it tends to be the most prominent thing in the cockpit of a model, above all under an open canopy, where nothing hides it from view.
It offers a ready replacement for the seat in 1:48 scale with deeper rendering than a part from an ordinary kit allows. The name does not specify the particular kit it is dimensioned for, so try the seat dry in the cockpit tub before gluing and deal with any overhang by sanding the floor down or shortening the foot.
The part is not polystyrene and liquid cement for plastic will not hold on it; use cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest. Wash and degrease the seat before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on the smooth surface. Paint it separately from the cockpit and fit it at the very end; its articulation stands out after the depths are evened out in a dark tone and after a dry brush on the edges.
For modelers who build the cockpit open and want its main piece to stand up even from close by. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
