The subject is the Mazda RX-7 of the third generation, factory designation FD3S, in the body modification from the Japanese workshop Amemiya, which has long specialized in this type. Aoshima builds its car kits with an open engine bay and a chassis group under the body, so the result offers more than just a shell; the exact extent of the parts, however, differs between the individual boxings, so go by the instructions in the package.
The RX-7 of the FD3S generation was produced in the nineteen-nineties and is among the best known Japanese sports coupes of that time. It was powered by the two-rotor 13B-REW Wankel engine with a pair of sequentially arranged turbochargers - a combination that gave the car a smooth character and high revs. Its low weight, long hood and almost balanced weight distribution made it a popular basis for tuners; and it is precisely from this scene that the Amemiya aerodynamic package with a markedly reworked front end comes.
With a car model the paint decides. First sand the body, wash the grease off it, give it a primer and spray the paint in thin coats; let the color coat dry thoroughly, and only then comes the gloss clear, a fine polish and the decals. Mask the glazing and the headlights, do not spray over them. It is sensible to finish the engine bay and the chassis before the body is seated. The chrome parts only need degreasing, but on the parting line it is usually necessary to retouch the chrome lightly. Use cyanoacrylate glue only on the glazing and the chrome; elsewhere a classic glue for plastic holds better.
