A plastic kit of the modern Audi R8 LMS GT3 racing car in the form in which it lined up for the twenty-four-hour race at Spa in 2015. It is an injection-molded model to be glued and painted, not a finished collector's piece. The set belongs to the racing line from NuNu Models, which concentrates on current endurance GT cars.
The Audi R8 LMS is the racing version of the Audi R8 sports car, built to the technical rules of the GT3 category. It is powered by a naturally aspirated ten-cylinder engine mounted ahead of the rear axle, and its output is evened out by intake restrictors and balance-of-performance tables so that cars from different makes run at the same performance level. Compared with the production car it has a roll cage, a racing seat, a sequential gearbox, a fire suppression system and an aerodynamic package with a prominent rear wing and widened fenders. Quick wheel changes and lifting points for the jacks are part of the equipment without which a long race could not be run. Endurance events on the Spa circuit are exactly the environment in which GT3 cars are campaigned most often.
With racing cars the surface of the body decides the result. It pays to fill the parting gaps, sand them smooth, spray a primer and only then the base shade, because every irregularity will show under the gloss. Let the body dry thoroughly before you apply the decals, ideally onto a glossy surface and with a softener so that they settle into the recesses. A gloss clear coat follows and hides the edges of the decals. Assemble and paint the interior, the cage and the chassis before you close the body up. Bring the wheels, brakes and exhaust system to life with dark shades and a light dusting so that the car does not look like a showroom piece.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
