The real subject

The Datsun Bluebird 1600 SSS is the sports form of a Japanese midsize sedan of the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. The number in the designation refers to an engine capacity of around sixteen hundred cubic centimeters, and the three letters SSS set the more sharply tuned version apart from the ordinary sedans. The angular body with slim pillars and large windows still looks light and uncluttered today, which pays off on a model in 1:24 scale.

What the kit offers

This is a plastic kit in 1:24 scale, that is in the usual car scale, in which there is still plenty of room on the body for careful painting and for polishing the finish. Building and painting tips

• Wash the body in lukewarm water with detergent before painting and let it dry, which rids it of the traces of handling.
• Spray the paint in thin coats with enough time between them, as a thick layer fills the edges and the panel gaps.
• Glue the glazing at the very end and only spot by spot, so that the glue does not fog the clear surface.
• Cut off and clean up the small chrome items carefully, as a damaged surface is hard to restore afterward.

The kit will please collectors of Japanese cars as well as modelers who want an ordinary civilian car in the display case instead of yet another racing special. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
