An add-on set of photo-etched parts from thin metal sheet intended to improve a model of the Honda NSX racing car in Epson colors in 1:24 scale. It is not a model or a kit of the car, but a set of replacement and additional parts that are fitted to the model instead of the plastic ones or in addition to them. Photo-etched sheet has a thickness that injection-molded plastic cannot reach, so where the real car has thin sheet, a grille or a mesh, the metal part looks substantially more faithful.
It tells most in the places where a plastic part cannot be made thin enough. Grilles and meshes stop looking like a solid lump of material and start being see-through, sharp edges stay sharp even after the paint is sprayed, and small flat details take on real proportions. On racing cars it is also often a matter of details that are on view on the model and at the same time cannot be satisfactorily replaced by making your own.
Cut the parts off the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface, not with nippers, which will deform the metal. It is best to bend them in a bending tool; otherwise two razor blades or a ruler with a sharp edge will serve, and make the bend once and properly, because repeated bending breaks the metal. They are bonded with super glue in a minimal amount, which is practical to apply with the tip of a toothpick or a wire rather than straight from the bottle. Before painting, degrease the metal and spray a primer intended for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold. Work over a mat or over a cloth, as a tiny part that falls on the floor usually ends up lost.
This is an add-on set for building a model, not a model or a kit of the car. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
