1:24 Garage set #4

What the set offers

Accessories for a garage and workshop scene in 1:24 scale, that is, in the scale in which large models of cars are built. The number in the name distinguishes the individual sets within the line; beside this one the manufacturer offers others too, for instance a welder, pressure cylinders, cans or transport crates. What exactly this set holds and in how many pieces is given by the manufacturer on the packaging.

Where the accessories fit

Into a scene with a model car, onto a display base or into a display case. It is precisely the small things around a car, that is, tools, containers and the fitting out of a workshop, that give a finished model a sense of scale and action; a car on its own on a bare board always looks emptier. The set will serve just as well as a source of individual pieces for a larger diorama scene.

Building and painting tips

First separate the parts carefully and clean them up, cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down. Choose the way of gluing according to the material of the parts, which the manufacturer states; with small accessories it has proved itself to put them together dry first and only then to glue them. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and lay down a primer coat. Apply thin layers and add wear at the end, because garage equipment is as a rule scuffed, greasy and rubbed; a dry brush and a dark glaze into the nooks do the greatest service on small objects.

Who it is for

For modelers who build car models in 1:24 scale and want to set them into surroundings, and for builders of scenes who lack the small fittings of a workshop.
