A plastic kit of the Japanese Daihatsu Leeza coupe in the Z turbo version with aerodynamic equipment (the AERO designation), in 1:24 scale from Fujimi. The model belongs to the extensive line that Fujimi devotes to Japanese passenger cars and is intended for building, painting and putting on display.
The Daihatsu Leeza is a small car of the Japanese kei class, that is, the category with firmly set maximum dimensions and engine displacement. Unlike most practical kei cars, the Leeza went for a low, sportily conceived body with a sloping rear and aimed at young buyers who wanted a cheap car with character. The versions with a turbocharged engine were among the sharpest variants of the range; the AERO designation refers to the aerodynamic equipment of the body. Small Japanese cars of the 1980s like these now form a collecting category of their own - they are unassuming, markedly of their period and still fairly rare in European collections.
On a small body every unevenness shows, so sand the parting lines carefully and smooth the surface before the paint goes on. Check the aerodynamic parts dry and fill any gaps with putty before painting, so that they do not show once the paint is on. Period Japanese cars look good in a deep solid color set off by black trim and dark glass. Glue the glazing with cement for clear parts. Paint and finish the interior before you close the body up, and do not forget small things such as the steering wheel and the dashboard - in a closed car they are clearly visible through the windows.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
