A plastic kit (1:24) of the legendary Italian Lancia 037 rally car from Hasegawa, done as the Group B racing version of 1984. The model faithfully transfers the characteristic wedge-shaped body with its wide fenders into 1:24 scale. The box combines injection-molded plastic with rubber tires and a decal sheet for the period racing livery and start numbers; a well-worked interior with a roll cage is included too.
The Lancia 037 was created under the direction of Abarth as a Group B rally car with a mid-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive. In racing form the supercharged four-cylinder engine gave over 300 horsepower. The car went into history as the last rear-wheel-drive machine to win the World Rally Championship (the manufacturers' title in 1983), at a time when all-wheel drive was arriving. The version for 1984 carried on in the hard-fought battles of Group B.
Finish the interior with its roll cage and seat it before you close up the body. Take the body to a gloss finish, settle the sponsor decals and the start numbers on a smooth, clear-coated surface and then coat over them so their edges do not stand out. Use thin cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush; a light dusting of pigments on the wheels and tires will add the rally touch.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
