Mazda RX-7 FD – a printed color interior in 1:24 turns the bare plastic moldings of the cabin into a detailed interior of a coupe with a rotary engine. The elements are applied wet and the set is cut for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Printed layered elements on a decal backing paper dress the inside of the Mazda RX-7 FD, including the instrument binnacle, the door cards, the console between the seats and the upholstery. The set is cut for the Tamiya kit and adds adhesive-backed metal parts for the bright trim. The color and the relief are created during printing, so no shades have to be mixed and no engraved lines traced.
The third generation with the factory designation FD3S was built from 1991 to 2002 and was the last production sports Mazda with a rotary engine. The two-rotor 13B-REW unit worked with two turbochargers in sequence: the smaller one spooled up from low revs, the second joined in only in the upper half of the range. A short front hood with no tall engine under it and balanced weight distribution gave the car a reputation as a machine equally good on a circuit and on the road.
First degrease the plastic, unify it with a dark base and go over it with a gloss varnish such as Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22. Then cut the part out of the sheet, soak it for about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slide it off the backing paper into place; it has no adhesive layer of its own and holds precisely on the gloss varnish, and on complicated shapes a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution; their chemicals attack the printed resin.
It is the fitting out of the interior of the car, not the car kit itself.
