This large plastic kit from Trumpeter captures the German Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2 fighter in the attractive 1:24 scale. The large format allows rich rendering of the surface as well as of the interior details. The set is made of injection-molded plastic and completed with photo-etched parts and a film instrument panel; decals for period markings are included as well. The model is meant to be glued and painted.
The Bf 109 G, nicknamed Gustav, was one of the most widespread versions of this fighter. The G-2 variant of 1942 was powered by a Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine and was deployed on all fronts, among them the Eastern Front. It was a fast and agile single-seat fighter whose design grew out of prewar development.
In the large scale the cockpit and the engine bay stand out, so careful accentuation of the details pays off. Use liquid modeling cement for the plastic and apply a primer before painting. Spray the camouflage with an airbrush and bring out the panel lines with a wash. Patience in seating the photo-etched parts is worth it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
