This plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima in 1:24 scale captures the R34 generation Nissan Skyline in the 25GT-X Turbo version of 1998, the more civilian but still brisk face of a legendary model range that stands undeservedly in the shadow of the famous GT-R.
The R34 generation reached the Japanese market in 1998. The 25GT-X Turbo version, with the chassis code ER34, received a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline six and rear-wheel drive, a combination that made it a favorite basis for modifications and for drifting. Compared with the top GT-R the ER34 is lighter and simpler, and precisely for that reason it earned a reputation as an attainable sports sedan for drivers who want the driving experience without the compromises of the big flagships.
The sharply cut R34 body looks its best under a darker metallic or a classic silver; sand down the parting lines and degrease the surface before painting. The engine bay and the chassis will please detailers: a dark wash brings out the ribbing and the pipework, and a dry brush wakes up the metal parts. Glue the clear headlights and the round tail lamps, a Skyline trademark, with an adhesive made for clear parts. Any debate about the stance of the car is easily settled: a restrained drop and a good set of wheels turn the model into an authentic Japanese street machine.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
