The figure rounds out the line of characters that Hobby Design offers to go with collectible and scratch-built cars. The sitting position is given in the name and represents a practical alternative to the standing forms: the character can be seated on the hood, on the edge of a base or in an open interior.
A model of a car does not on its own give away how big it is. As soon as a human character is added to it, the viewer's brain fills the dimensions in at once and the scene starts to come across as real. A sitting figure moreover takes a place where a standing person would be in the way - that is low by the car, on its edge or inside. In photographic shots it helps to fill an empty foreground, which otherwise breaks a shot up needlessly.
In 1:24 scale it does not pay to paint the fine drawing of the fabric; a clean area with shadow in the folds gives a better result. Lay the skin down in thin coats and avoid cool tones. Two shades are enough for the hair, a dark base and lightened strands. Before seating the character, try dry how it sits against the shape you want to place it on, and adjust the lower part if need be, not the body. Only then comes the turn of the finishing matte overspray.
