A mid-size sedan of the 1980s that was a genuine bestseller in Japan. The GX71 code in the name identifies both the generation and the engine: this was the version with an inline six and a pair of turbochargers, as the Twin Turbo designation also suggests. The combination of a discreet body and decent power made this type one of the icons of the Japanese tuning scene.
The car was built on a platform shared with two other models from the same brand, which differed mainly in their styling and sales network. Angular lines, pronounced chrome and rear-wheel drive are the features that make these cars harder and harder to find today. The 2.0-liter six-cylinder unit with forced induction was the technological flagship of the mid-size class in its day.
The large flat sides have nowhere to hide a ripple, so it is worth spraying the primer and sanding it back before the color coat. There is plenty of chrome on this body and it looks best when you work with a sharp boundary, either with a mask or with a fine brush. If you are planning a tuned form, think through the stance of the wheels before you glue the chassis together.
Without assembly and spraying the model will not be finished, so count on that when buying.
