A plastic kit of the road-going Toyota Supra of the A70 generation in the 3.0GT Turbo A equipment from 1988. The Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa keeps the A70 as a whole family of packages according to the individual versions, and this is the sharpest of them, the homologation one. The kit is injection-molded plastic in the automobile scale of 1:24 and is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Supra of the A70 generation was built from the middle of the 1980s as a sporting coupe with a longitudinally mounted inline six-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive. The 3.0GT Turbo A version came about so that Toyota could field sharper engineering in Group A circuit events, as the rules called for a certain number of road cars to be built, which made it a limited homologation series. Compared with the ordinary configuration it was given revised turbocharging and tuning of the turbocharged three-liter six-cylinder engine, a different front bumper with larger cooling openings and a recognizable dark exterior trim. It was precisely this version that became the basis of the circuit Supras which in Japan raced in the highest capacity division against rivals of European origin.
A dark body is merciless to every unevenness, because a glossy surface brings out even the smallest scratch. It pays to sand the body down, spray it over with a primer, check the surface against the light and only then lay on the paint. Apply the color thinly and in several coats, put on a gloss clear varnish at the end and, if you wish, polish it gently. Do the chrome window frames and trim strips with foil or with a metallic paint applied on top of the finished varnish, as metallic paints are hard to mask and to overspray. Set the wheels and tires apart by their degree of gloss: matte rubber against a glossy or satin rim makes a great difference.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
