An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Chevrolet Camaro coupe of the 1969 model year in 1:25 scale from the manufacturer Monogram. The package is made up as two builds in one, that is with the option of building the car in the SS trim or in the RS trim. For American automobile kits 1:25 is the traditional scale, and most of the accessories available match it.
The first-generation Camaro of the 1969 model year received more pronounced body-side pressings and a reworked grille, and to this day it is among the most sought-after forms of this car. The designation SS 396 refers to the sporting trim with a V8 of 396 cubic inches, that is roughly 6.5 liters, completed with matching suspension and brake changes. The RS trim was an appearance package whose most conspicuous feature was the hidden headlights behind flip-up covers in the grille. The two trims could be combined, and that is exactly why the build option is interesting on a model as well.
On a car model the paint is what decides. Wash the body thoroughly, sand the seams and the ejector pin marks down and apply a primer; only on that will it show whether the surface really is smooth. Spray the color in thin coats with enough time between them and finish with a clear gloss coat, which can be polished once it has cured. Leave the chrome parts on the sprue until the last moment and touch the cut faces in; a fingerprint on chrome is hard to remove. Finish the interior and the engine bay before you join the body to the chassis. Decide on the build option in advance, so that you do not find halfway through that you have cut away a part you need.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
