An injection-molded plastic kit of the AMT brand in 1:25 scale, corresponding to the configuration of the 1981 model year. The most striking element of the set is the T-top roof with removable clear panels, so the model can be built both closed and open. It further contains an elaborate turbocharged engine and interior, the production aluminum wheels with a snowflake pattern as well as alternative spoke wheels, and an extended sheet of waterslide decals with external markings, optional gold emblems, stripes and instrument panel gauges.
The Datsun 280ZX followed on from the Z line as a more comfortable and better equipped coupe with the emphasis on travel over long distances. The turbocharged Turbo version appeared in 1981 and brought a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, which made the car one of the fastest Japanese production models of its day. The T-top roof with two removable panels was one of the attractions of the time.
Work with the glass decides the result. Never glue the clear panels and windows with ordinary liquid plastic cement, as it would fog them; use cement for clear parts or a very small amount of cyanoacrylate gel away from a visible surface. Mask the window frames with thin tape and spray in thin coats, so that no paint runs under the tape. Leave the removable T-top panels free and paint only their frames, so that the option of setting them beside the model remains. Rinse the parts before painting, as fingerprints always show up under the paint.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
