Open service and emergency hatch for the Mi-8MT and Mi-17 in 1:48 scale is a resin accessory for modelers who want their helicopter with a panel swung open instead of a smooth, sealed fuselage.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is an accessory for a helicopter model, not the model itself. It brings the hatch rendered in the open position, the way the machine looks during an inspection or when ready for boarding. The casting is resin and is meant for 1:48 scale and for the Mi-8MT and Mi-17 family.
The silhouette of a helicopter is largely made up of smooth surfaces, and that is precisely why any panel swung open draws the eye at once. An open hatch also gives the model a sense of size, because the viewer can immediately read how large the opening is on the real machine. The resin casting manages a wall thickness that production plastic cannot reach, so the edge of the hatch looks like sheet metal rather than a plate several millimeters thick.
Cut the part away from the casting block and wash it in lukewarm water with a little detergent so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Prepare the opening in the fuselage a step at a time and keep testing the part dry so that both the outline and the thickness of the edge match. The hatch is seated with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Spray the inner face of the hatch and the visible edge of the opening before you seat the part. A primer coat belongs under the top color.
