A dipping ink from Green Stuff World in a 60 ml package, a purple shade. It is applied generously over the whole part and runs into the recesses by itself, so a darker place arises there without your drawing it with a brush.
A shadow does not have to be only a darker version of the same color. When purple settles in the recesses, the whole surface takes on a cooler and livelier character than a neutral darkening offers - the depths stop acting as a mere absence of light and become part of the color composition. It is exactly for this that a dipping ink suits better than a wash: it is not just a filled groove, but a tone that spreads over the whole part and strengthens where the surface is deepest. What decides that is the shape of the object, not your brush stroke.
