A masking set for the clear part of a model of the helicopter in 1:32 scale. The glazing of an attack helicopter is a different task from the canopy of a fighter aircraft: instead of one convex bubble it is an assembly of flat or slightly curved panes joined by straight frames, including the side doors and the lower windows at the gunner's feet. The masks follow the shape of every pane separately, so the frames stay uncovered and are sprayed in the airframe color. It is based on the dimensions of the ICM kit.
The Bell AH-1G was the first attack helicopter produced in series. It has a narrow fuselage and a two-seat tandem cabin, in which the gunner sits in front and the pilot behind and higher. The cabin is set in the nose and is glazed for the most part, so it makes up a marked part of the silhouette. The Arctic Cobra boxing refers to machines with a markedly contrasting finish; the exact scheme is in the instructions of the kit you are obtaining the mask for.
The clear part of a helicopter has a lot of straight edges and sharp corners - and it is precisely in the corners that a mask lifts most easily. After sticking it on, therefore, go around the whole perimeter with a toothpick and press the edges home. Spray the color of the frame in thin coats; in 1:32 scale the frame is wide enough for a thick coat to show on it as a ridge. Take the mask off once the paint has gone tacky, and on long straight stretches pull it smoothly and at an angle, not in jerks.
