An accessory for a model of the AH-1G Cobra helicopter in 1:32 scale from Quinta Studio. The contents are a 3D-printed and pre-painted interior printed on decal paper, which is transferred to the model by the wet method like an ordinary decal. So it is not a model of the helicopter or parts to be glued. On the Cobra the set makes especially good sense, because the narrow tandem cockpit is largely glazed and once the model is finished you can see into it from both sides.
The AH-1G was the first production form of the American Cobra attack helicopter. Its characteristic feature is a slender fuselage with the crew seated one behind the other, the front position belonging to the gunner and the rear, slightly raised one to the pilot. The two stations have a different arrangement of controls, so the interior is not symmetrical and the difference is clearly visible on a model.
Given how narrow the Cobra's cockpit is, the whole interior has to be finished before the fuselage halves are glued together; after that not even a brush will reach inside. The surfaces under the decals are leveled with fine abrasive paper, sprayed with a base color and coated with a gloss varnish. The element is cut off, briefly immersed in lukewarm water and slid into place once the carrier film has released. The water has to be pressed out with a soft brush or a cotton bud drawing from the center, without pressure on the raised relief. A decal softener and a setting solution do not belong on these elements, as their chemistry attacks the printed resin. Because the cockpit is clearly visible once the build is finished, it pays to coat the interior with a matte varnish at the end and to suggest shadows lightly, so that the detail is not lost under the reflections of the glazing.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model of the helicopter. Check the match with your kit before buying. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
