An accessory for a model of the Bell AH-1G Cobra attack helicopter in 1:32 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. It is not a kit but a set of self-adhesive masks pre-cut to the shape of the glazing frames. The contents of the package are stated on the box; before buying, check whether the set matches your kit.
TFace is Eduard's designation for sets with masks for the outer as well as the inner side of the glazing. The cockpit frames can then be sprayed from the inside in the interior shade and from the outside in the shade of the machine. On the Cobra, whose narrow cockpit has large flat panes and a dense grid of frames, that difference is especially visible when you look into the model. Sets without the TFace designation deal with the outer side only.
The AH-1G was the first production helicopter designed from the outset as an attack machine. It took over the powerplant and rotor head of the UH-1 series transport helicopters, but it got an entirely new, very narrow fuselage with a two-seat cockpit in tandem: the gunner in front, the pilot higher up behind him. This layout reduced the frontal area of the machine and became the model for later attack helicopters.
Degrease the glazing and let it dry out completely. Transfer the masks with tweezers and press them down with a wooden toothpick along the edges. Stick the inner masks on and spray them first, and only then deal with the outer side. Spray in thin layers, as a heavy coat will leave a pronounced step once the mask is taken off. Take the mask off shortly after the finish has dried and pull it at an angle across the edge of the frame.
The set holds masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
