A photo-etched set for a model of the Bf 109F-4 fighter in 1:32 scale, intended to replace plastic parts with thin metal.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bf 109F-4 was the most widespread version of the German fighter of the Friedrich series. Compared with the earlier F-2 it received a more powerful liquid-cooled Daimler-Benz inverted V12 and a more effective weapon firing through the hollow propeller shaft. Outwardly it stayed as clean as the whole series: rounded wingtips, a smooth cowling and tail surfaces without external bracing. It flew over the Channel, in the Mediterranean and on the Eastern Front, and is often considered the most balanced machine of the whole family.
The 1:32 scale forgives little. Plastic parts have their smallest possible thickness and in a model this large it shows: sheet metal that should be barely noticeable looks like a plank. Photo-etched metal erases this difference, because it is made from sheet a few tenths of a millimeter thick. Which parts the package contains and which kit they are drawn for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Prepare a sharp blade, a hard surface, tweezers with a fine tip and a bending tool, or two razor blades. Separate the parts by cutting at the tab itself, not by breaking them off. Bend along the marked score line and always in one movement; repeated bending fatigues the metal and the part cracks. Dose cyanoacrylate with the tip of a wire, otherwise it runs across the surroundings. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and spray a primer so that the paint holds even during handling.
For modelers of large scales who build the Friedrich and want detail that plastic cannot reach. It calls for patience and fine tools. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
