Replacement wheels for a model of the British English Electric Lightning interceptor in the F.Mk.3 to F.Mk.6 versions. These are late-form wheels and the tires have the flattening worked in that arises under the weight of a parked aircraft.
The Lightning was a British supersonic interceptor introduced at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s. You will recognize it by its sharply swept wing and the circular nose intake with a cone in the middle. The F.Mk.3 and F.Mk.6 versions are among the late ones, with the F.Mk.6 receiving a larger ventral tank that extended the aircraft's range.
In 1:32 scale a wheel is a large part that the viewer has at eye level and examines from close up. A separately made wheel tends to be more legible in the definition of the hub, in the transition between hub and tire and in the shape of the sidewall. The flattening then gives the finished build an impression of weight that is otherwise hard to fake.
Cut the excess material off a short way from the part with a sharp blade and sand the remainder so that the contact patch stays untouched. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. When fitting, make sure the flattened part faces the ground and that all the wheels touch down in the same plane; check this on a flat board while the glue sets. Adapt the glue and the procedure to the material of the parts according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The package contains wheels. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
