1:32 Ejection seat Martin-Baker GRU-7A (2 pcs) is a resin set of two GRU-7A ejection seats in 1:32 scale, the type known from the Tomcat. It is not a kit but a cockpit accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds two resin ejection seats of the GRU-7A type for models in 1:32 scale. The two pieces are no accident: this type served in the two-seat cockpit of the Grumman F-14 Tomcat fighter, where both the pilot and the weapons systems officer sat. An aircraft model is not included; the set replaces the simplified plastic parts from a kit.
The GRU-7A is the American variant of the British Martin-Baker design, adapted for the needs of naval aviation. It belongs among the seats with a rocket booster, which lets the crew leave the machine even at low altitude. In the Tomcat cockpit it forms, together with the instrument panels, the most closely watched detail, because the canopy of this aircraft is large and the interior is easy to see into. In 1:32 scale every strap and every handle on the seat then shows.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw in the places that the cockpit structure will hide once the seats are in, and level the faces with wet sandpaper, with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer, then the dark shade of the seat body, a different tone for the cushions, and finally pick the edges out with a dry brush. Ejection handles in a contrasting color keep the cockpit readable even in a display case.
