This set is not a model of an aircraft but an aftermarket upgrade for a plastic kit. It contains cast resin parts with which you replace the simplified wheel wells from the box with faithfully detailed bays full of runs, ribs and structure. The set is intended for the injection-molded model of the Grumman F-14 Tomcat in 1:32 scale (the kit from Trumpeter).
The F-14 Tomcat was an American two-seat carrier fighter with a variable-sweep wing, an icon of naval aviation and a carrier of long-range missiles. In the large 1:32 scale the wheel wells are prominent places; the resin set replaces them with crisply cast structure which, once painted and washed, transforms the view of the model from below.
First separate the parts from the casting blocks with a fine saw or a cutter and wash off the mold release residue. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Count on adjusting the fit and possibly reworking the plastic parts of the kit; protect your airways when sanding resin. It pays to paint and shade the bays before closing up the lower fuselage.
This is an add-on set, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
