The enlarged airbrake on the spine of the Eagle, cast in resin. It lets you build it swung open together with the well beneath it, which the plastic part cannot do.

The Eagle has its airbrake worked out unusually. Instead of a pair of panels along the sides of the fuselage it carries a single huge plate on the spine right behind the cockpit, which on deployment rises at a steep angle and blocks the pilot's whole view to the rear. The first production machines had a smaller plate, but the area was soon enlarged and the aircraft fly in this form to this day. The package carries precisely the newer, enlarged shape.
On a model it is one of the most prominent elements of the silhouette. A kit, however, usually deals with it as a flat panel that either sits flush into the fuselage or can be swung open and reveals an empty shell with not a single rib. The casting brings both: the plate with an inner rim and a thin edge, and with it the well with internal structure into which the panel seats. An open airbrake is then a scene in itself and gives the model movement even when it stands on a base.
Fitting means sanding the original panel out of the spine and leveling the opening against the template of the casting. Work slowly and keep trying it, because you cannot put material back. Hold the joints with cyanoacrylate, which can be sped up with an accelerator.
The set is cast for the large Tamiya kits and suits both the single-seat fighter and the two-seat combat form of the aircraft, because the spine area stays the same on both.
The painting has a logic of its own. The inside of the well and the back of the plate tend to be in a different shade from the upper surface of the fuselage and their edges carry traces of service. It is precisely the contrast between the outside and the inside that makes an open airbrake believable.
