A combination of masking films and two turned metal barrels for a model of the ground-attack Fw 190F-8 in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the last year of the war the ground-attack F-8s received armament the original project had not allowed for. Tubes for unguided rockets derived from the infantry anti-tank weapon appeared under the wings, fired in salvoes of several rounds at one target. The attack was made from low altitude and in a shallow dive, because otherwise the spread of the rockets would have stretched across a whole position. Beside that, further fittings were tried, from anti-armor cannons slung under the fuselage to carriers for bombs of various calibers. Many of the machines ended the war on airfields without fuel.
You will find there two masks cut for the clear part from the outside as well as the inside, a pair of films for the national insignia and a pair of barrels from the lathe for the fast-firing weapons above the engine.
A metal barrel has two ends and each performs a different job. The rear one tends to be a smooth cylinder of smaller diameter which serves as a shank for the drilled hole, and the front one carries the step and the bore. Before starting work, therefore, look at both parts against the light and remember which way the cavity points. It seems obvious, only the parts are small and shiny and look symmetrical in the bag; gluing a barrel in the wrong way round has happened to many builders and getting it out again is possible only with damage to the surroundings. When you spray the model, also plug the muzzle with a piece of wax or modeling putty so that the cavity is not flooded with paint. Its dark opening is after all the main reason why a metal barrel is bought at all.
