Double-sided masking templates in 1:32 scale for a model of the Gloster Gladiator Mk.I biplane from the Revell and ICM kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Gloster Gladiator was a British fighter biplane of the 1930s and the last fighter of this layout in the armament of the Royal Air Force. The Mk.I version had an enclosed canopy with markedly divided frames, so on a model it is one of the places where careful work with masking shows the most.
The templates come in a double-sided form: they cover the outer and the inner side of the glazing. That is useful whenever the canopy is built open or there is a view into it, because the frames then come out sharp from both views and no overspray is left on the inner side. The set is cut for the Revell and ICM kits.
Clean and degrease the surface before sticking them on, otherwise the template will not hold in the corners. Stick the inner masks on before the glazing is seated in the fuselage, otherwise you will not get at them afterwards. Lay the templates on one at a time and press the edges down, so that the paint does not creep under them. Apply the paint in several thin coats and remove the mask shortly after it has dried, while it can be peeled off in one piece. The tip of a scalpel and tweezers with fine jaws help when removing them; a small mask in broken frames is hard to get hold of with the fingers.
The set is intended for builders of biplanes who do not want to spend their evenings cutting tape, and for all those who build the canopy with a view inside. With a biplane it moreover pays to have the glazing finished before the model fills up with struts and bracing. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
