1:32 Hawk 81-A2 is an Eduard photo-etched set for a model of the Curtiss Hawk 81-A2 fighter in 1:32 scale, aimed above all at the cockpit. It is a smaller, largely pre-painted set, not a full photo-etch for the whole aircraft.

A set of photo-etched parts for detailing a plastic model of the Curtiss Hawk 81-A2 fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not an airplane kit but an accessory to one: thin metal parts take the place of plastic shapes that cannot be made fine enough in a mold. Eduard, the Czech maker from Obrnice, generally makes several sets of differing extent for one subject. This one belongs among the smaller ones, with mostly pre-painted parts that are glued on straight away without painting.
The weight of the smaller photo-etched sets lies in the cockpit: the instrument panel, the side consoles, the levers and the seat harness. It is exactly these items that are most in view once the canopy is closed, and on which plastic parts look oversized. The more extensive photo-etch from the same maker for the same aircraft reaches further, onto the exterior surfaces, the engine section or the landing gear bays. More than one set is therefore made under the same name; tell them apart by their extent.
Cut the parts off the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface rather than snapping them off. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two razor blades, so that they are crisp and straight. Do not sand the pre-painted surfaces and do not glue them with cyanoacrylate spread beyond the joint, which will fog the paint. The proven approach is a spot of thin cyanoacrylate applied with a toothpick; on larger areas a glue made for photo-etch or a gloss acrylic clear helps. Degrease the unpainted parts before gluing and give them a primer coat.
The set is an accessory to a plastic model. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
