A photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard focused on the landing flaps of a model of the Soviet Ilyushin Il-2 ground-attack aircraft in 1:32 scale. The metal parts make it possible to replace the thick-walled plastic flaps with a fine structure and, if you like, to set them in the lowered position. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit.
The set refines the landing flaps and their inner structure, the ribs and the mountings. Lowered flaps bring the silhouette of a standing model to life and bring it closer to a real aircraft on the ground.
The Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik was a Soviet single-engine ground-attack aircraft of the Second World War. It became famous for its heavily armored structure protecting the pilot and the engine and was built in an enormous number of examples. It was deployed above all to destroy ground targets.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade, form the bends with a bending tool and glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or a glue for etching. Cut the plastic flaps off carefully and plan the setting in advance. Once painted, the fine structure comes out well.
This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
