Pre-cut masks for the glazing of a model of the Westland Lynx Mk.8 helicopter in 1:32 scale. They are applied to the transparent parts before spraying, so the window frames get a crisp edge and the glass stays clean. The lengthy cutting of tape along a ruler, which with the intricate glazing of a cockpit rarely comes out accurately, falls away.
Eduard sets with this designation contain masks for both sides of the glazing, that is separately for the outer and separately for the inner surface. You will appreciate the inner masks when you spray the cockpit from inside with the interior color or when the frames are to be colored from both sides. In a large scale, where there is a good view into the cockpit, this difference shows.
Wash the transparent parts before applying the masks and let them dry completely, as a mask will not hold on a greasy surface. Move the masks with pointed tweezers and press them down around their whole edge with a toothpick, so that paint does not get under the edge. Spray in thin coats, as a heavy application likes to peel off with the edge during removal. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has dried, best of all with the point of a knife pushed into the surface of the mask.
For builders of the Lynx model in 1:32 scale who want crisp glazing frames without cutting by hand. The Lynx Mk.8 is the naval version operated by the Royal Navy from the decks of surface ships. Check in the instructions for the set whether the masks will fit a particular kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
