Pre-cut self-adhesive masks for painting a model of the He 219 night fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit but an aid for the spraying stage. The EXPERT grade marks the widest of the coverages offered by this maker, which in a large scale makes particularly good sense.
In 1:32 scale a model is markedly bigger and the viewer looks at it from close up. A cockpit frame that would pass in a smaller scale gives away every crooked edge and every trace of paint creep here. A pre-cut mask is therefore more a necessity than a convenience in a large scale, especially on a type with glazing as extensive and as segmented as that of a night fighter.
The Heinkel He 219 was a German twin-engine night fighter of the second half of the war. It was one of the first production aircraft fitted with ejection seats and carried radar with prominent aerials in the nose. The A-7 version was one of the later production variants. Despite its good flying qualities the type was built only in limited numbers and its use remained marginal.
In a large scale work with a bright light and a magnifier, especially when seating masks on the long frames. Finish the cockpit interior and let it cure before you close the canopy. Paint the radar aerials separately off the model, as they are fragile and hard to mask in place. Lift the mask off shortly after spraying, with tweezers by a raised corner.
The package contains masking material only. The model, paints and glue are not included. The masks are cut for a particular kit of this type, so check that they match your own model.
