A sheet set of water-slide decals in 1:32 scale from Print Scale. The set is intended for marking a finished model of the Junkers Ju 87 dive bomber and it is the first part of a series devoted to this type. It is not an aircraft model and not a kit: these are decals that you apply to an already assembled and painted model. The large 1:32 scale meanwhile allows markedly finer printing of details than is legible at all in smaller scales.
The Junkers Ju 87 was a German single-engine dive bomber developed in the second half of the 1930s. Its characteristic features were the inverted gull wing, the fixed landing gear in aerodynamic fairings and the dive brakes that made controlled diving possible. The aircraft was designed for accurate bombing from a steep descent, which at a time when accurate aiming systems were lacking raised the chance of hitting a point target considerably. A whole series of production versions came about, differing in engine, armament and equipment; the later variants were used above all against ground targets. The type served in many operational areas of the Second World War and its silhouette is among the most easily recognized aircraft of the period.
Before applying the decals, overcoat the surface of the model with a gloss varnish: on a matte surface a white haze forms around a decal. Cut the individual motifs out as closely as you can, dip them in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let them rest until the backing starts to release. Slide the decal onto the moistened surface, adjust the position and blot the excess water with a towel from the center outwards. Over engraved panel lines and riveting a decal softener helps the motif cling to the surface. Once it is completely dry, even the whole model out with a matte or semi-matte varnish. In a large scale it is advisable to work with soft-jawed tweezers, so that the thin film does not tear.
The package contains decals only. The model, the paints and the varnish are not included.
