A figure of a British fighter pilot from 1940 to 1945 in 1:32 scale. It rounds out a model of a Royal Air Force fighter in a display case and in a scene alike.
Responsibility details are not available.
A fighter pilot of the Royal Air Force looked unmistakable in the years 1940 to 1945. Over his flying suit or service tunic he had an inflatable life vest, which was nicknamed Mae West and which was meant to keep a man on the surface after being shot down over the sea. The parachute harness belonged with it, a leather flying helmet with earphones, an oxygen mask and goggles pushed up on the forehead. It is exactly the vest and the harness that give a figure that typical bulky silhouette everyone knows from period photographs by fighters on the grass.
One figure of an RAF fighter pilot from the stated period, made in 1:32 scale. The figure of an adult man comes out in this scale at roughly five and a half centimeters. What pose the figure is in, what gear it carries and what material it is made of is given by the manufacturer's description. The designation places it as the second version of the same subject, so it can be paired with further figures of the line.
Wash the figure and degrease it before painting, and cut the excess material and the traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down. Choose the glue according to the material the package states. The life vest is a rewarding color accent, because it differs markedly from the dark flying suit. Build the face from a darker base toward the lighter projections and in this scale rather suggest the detail than draw it out.
For modelers who build British fighters of the Second World War in 1:32 scale and want a pilot figure by them that gives the model its scale and action. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
